Tip to lose excess weight gained during pregnancy

Are you still holding on to those excess pounds you put on during pregnancy? I know how frustrating it is to not fit into old clothes. I was able to lose all my pregnancy weight after my first pregnancy with no effort at all. It was all gone by the time the baby turned one. However with my second pregnancy, I was having a hard time losing all the excess weight and as you all know it is very hard to get time to workout with 2 kids. So I followed GM diet and that helped me lose 17 pounds in 3 months.

GM diet is a 7 days regime, that helps you lose about 5 to 7 pounds in one week, if you follow the instructions they have on the website http://www.gmdietworks.com/

You will have to give at least a 4 weeks interval before you do GM diet regime the second time. Goal is to lose atleast 5 pounds at the end of regime, worst case if you don't lose any weight that is fine at least this entire procedure does an internal cleansing of your body.

My track

September first week- Lost 6 pounds
October first week- Lost 5 pounds
November first week- Lost 6 pounds
Total 17 pounds in 3 months and that was my weight loss goal. All I have to really do now is just sustain the weight loss.

During the course of GM diet you need to make sure you get to sleep through the night, only then you will have energy to sustain it for the week. If you wake up of hunger in the night just drink coconut water and sleep again. Also your family members should support you with few household chores for 1 week as you will be tired to do the chores. And make sure you eat before driving so that you don't feel dizzy.

Some ground rules:-

1. Do your best to stick to the regime but for some reason if you are not able to keep up and if you are feeling tired or dizzy no worries just go back to your original diet. Don't get into any compulsion. When I tried GM diet the very first time I quit the second day itself. Later I dared to try it again after 1 year and this time I prepped myself very well in terms of groceries and I ate in multiple intervals and that helped me to stick to it.
2. You need to work out /exercise at least for 30-45 minutes minimum in addition to the diet, only then we can see some effect. Exercise can be just walking, swimming or biking etc. I prefer walking or biking in fresh air than tread mill inside a closed room. In winter, I simply went to Mall or Lowes/Homedepot for window shopping and walked for an hour and it didn't even feel like work out.
3. Grocery Shopping for GM diet:-Shop for all the items in the list below atleast 2 days before the day you are planning to start. At least the fruits shopping should be done early, so that it is ripe enough to eat when you start your day 1 diet.
4. How to sustain the weight loss? After you complete your GM diet, from day 8 you can return back to your regular food items but try to eat lesser quantity and avoid high calorie fried or cheesy food at least most of the time and that will help you sustain the weight loss.Of course you can make exception and eat to your heart's content every now and then. But trust me after the 1 week of GM diet you will be so glad to eat regular food and reducing the quantity will not be a big deal as you will be really glad that you are at least getting to eat normal food. And just do normal exercise just 2 or 3 days a week thatz it.
5. Is GM diet healthy way of losing weight, coz losing 5 pounds in just 1 week doesn't seem healthy? Hmm...Good question I will let you decide and it is absolutely your call. You can read the GMdiet official page below for more information.

Fish for grilling

Here is the US version with examples for each day. It has good tips on what you can eat on each day.

The Indian version  of the GM diet is pretty close to the original. There are slight changes and they are described below. I drank coconut water everyday in addition to drinking lots of regular water.

  • Day 1All fruits. All kinds of fruit may be consumed except for bananas. 10-12 glasses of water should be consumed throughout the day. Get lot of melons Like water melons, cantaloupe and honey due melon. Also get Pineapple as you can add salt and chill powder and eat and that will take care of your craving for salt.
  • Day 2All vegetables. All sorts of vegetables may be consumed during the second day. Potatoes may be served during breakfast to boost energy levels. A mixture of greens and boiled vegetables as well as theGM diet wonder soup may be served during lunch and dinner. You can make poriyal/curry with Indian vegetables like okra, bottle guard etc and just have them as well. Also you can boil broccoli with little salt and have it. Keep Asparagus in a plate and add little olive oil, salt and pepper and microwave for 2 minutes and eat it.Cucumber is great snack for interim intervals.
  • Day 3Mixture of fruits and vegetables. A mix of fruits and vegetables may be consumed on Day 3, together with 10-12 glasses of water. Bananas are still not allowed in this day.
  • Day 4Banana and milk. Skim milk and banana, together with the GM wonder soup or any type of vegetable soup may be served on this day. For Indian practitioners, yogurt may be served instead of skim milk.
  • Day 5Brown rice or Grilled meat, curd and tomatoes. Soybean curd or 1 cup of brown rice may be used as a substitute for beef, or a cup of cottage cheese. Tomatoes are important to match with the day’s meal, along with cucumbers. If you eat meat you can eat Grilled chicken/ Grilled Salmon/Tilapia with tomatoes. Remember no bread or dressing, just the grilled meat.
  • Day 6Brown rice or Grilled meat and vegetables. On Day 6, brown rice or other beef substitute will be matched with vegetables, but potatoes are still restricted. It is best to consume cottage cheese and soybean curd in vegetable bowls. If you eat meat you can eat Grilled chicken/ Grilled Salmon/Tilapia with Vegetables. Remember no bread or dressing, just the grilled meat.
  • Day 7. Brown rice, vegetables and fruits. Two cups of brown rice may be consumed together with unlimited servings of vegetables and fruits. Fruits may also be taken along with 8-10 glasses of water.
